Elements
Elements in PSU are a basic property of striking weapons, Bullets, TECHNICs, Line Shields, and Enemies. They are based off the four Greek classical elements - Fire, Ground, Air (Lightning in PSU), and Water (Ice in PSU), with two additions - Light and Dark. Elements are a significant part of the gameplay in PSU. Enemies are weak to the element opposite to the one they are affiliated with, and elements also have distinct status effects associated with them.
Elemental Damage
Damage dealt is adjusted depending on whether the damage's element is the same or the opposite element of the enemy, excluding Neutral. The modification is proportional to the elemental attribute of the weapon and, if the weapon is TECHNIC, the level and element of the TECHNIC used. Ranged weapons are subject to their equipped Photon Art for their elemental attribute and TECHNIC weapons are also subject to TECHNIC stacking.
The adjustment becomes a damage multiplier if the damage dealt is the opposite element of the enemy, also known as being on-element, and vice-versa; excluding Neutral, which has its own rules outlined below. For example, if a 50% Ice Striking weapon attacked a Fire enemy, it would have its damage output increased by approximately 36%. If it hit the same enemy but was the Fire element instead, then the damage output would be decreased by approximately 36%. Finally, if the weapon was the Neutral element instead, it would not be modified.
Neutral
Neutral damage dealt is unmodified by elemental attributes or bonuses. However, if damage is dealt with a Neutral Striking weapon against Neutral enemies, it will be boosted by 30%.
